Lesbiana-Une révolution parallèle
Canada and the United States, the East Coast, in the seventies. In the wake of the feminist boom, lesbians vindicated another place, another voice and a parallel way of looking at life. An extraordinary and fruitful movement came to life, helped by sexual freedom and other philosophical and esoteric impulses. Religious and ethnic differences did not facilitate the unity of a movement which was sometimes difficult to define, but it was a major emancipation for thousands of women who marked a "tendency" until the mid-nineties, leaving behind the main effects of a patriarchal society. To bring together the testimonies of those who one day decided to go and live only amongst women, and to collect photos and videos from the archives, Myriam Fougères has undertaken a long journey from Montreal to Texas, passing through New York. Her film gives a voice to some activists who are now old, but whose revolutionary spirit remains intact, and reminds us how subversive it was at the time to say: "I'm a lesbian".
