More than 20 years ago, John Leithman started a brilliant jazz music career. As a virtuoso bass player, he played for example in the Tonight Show band, and for years toured with Doc Severinsen and Mel Tormé. With them he forged a name for himself in the world of jazz. Apparently, he lived a quiet life of professional success, but in reality he led a double life. He was John on the outside, but only at home could he be Jennifer, as he really felt. All this changed in 2005, when Jennifer decided to change and started to live publicly as a woman. This was something that disrupted the masculine and sometimes homophobic world of jazz. Andrea Meyerson presents us with a person who is sure of himself, but with a path full of doubts, fears, risks and rewards, pains and joy. This is an incredible documentary in which great jazz virtuosos appear before the camera, such as Doc Severinsen, Ed Shaughnessy, Roy McCurdy, Denny Tedesco, Sweet Baby J'ai and Gary Chen, to talk to us about a story of liberation, accompanied by a marvellous jazz soundtrack.
