The Mostra FIRE!! is pleased to announce, for the first time, the two Organisers' Honorary Awards, for the 2013 edition:

BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM for "Les Invisibles", by Sébastien Lifshitz.

Two awards very well deserved, and a high standard for the 2014 edition.

SCREENING OF THE SHORT "LESBIANAS Y MUCHO MÁS", BY HANNAH JARZABEK

On Tuesday 9th at 18.30 h before "BAMBI", and Saturday 13 at 22.30 h before "BORN NAKED".

12 lesbian couples, living mainly in Krakow, Warsaw, Gdansk and Gdynia, participated in the project. However it is worth mentioning that some people, who at first showed their interest, finally stood down, mainly due to the fear of "coming out" and the consequences it could have on their professional and family life.

Poland is a very traditional society, in which the question of homosexual people and their rights provoke often strong homophobic reactions. The situation of lesbian women is even more complex. Frequently they suffer a double discrimination: first, because of their "ill sexual orientation" and second, because they do not fulfil their "natural role" within the frame of a traditional family. Put in the margins of society, they are often ignored and practically invisible in the public space.

FREE SCREENING OF THE SHORTS "FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE"

ATTENTION, on Saturday the 13th at 6.30 p.m. at the French Institute, we will screen the 8 finalists shorts of the contest FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE. The public will vote the best of them, so we’ll see you there! ENTRY IS FREE! And this session replaces the originally planned second screening of "Lesbiana, a parallel revolution", which is thereby canceled.

Attention: Change of venue for the cycle EAST OF EDEN!

Casa Asia, where East of Eden films are projected, is movieng in the middle of the cycle! The FIRST screening, on Saturday the 6th WILL STILL BE in the former headquarters (Diagonal, 373), but THE TWO OTHER ONES, on July the 13th and the 20th, and will be the new headquarters, at HOSPITAL DE SANT PAU, Pavilion St. Victòria, School of Speech-Language Pathology, Calle Sant Antoni M. Claret, 167. The time schedule remains the same: all movies are at 7.30 p.m.

SCREENING OF "PAUL BOWLES, CAGE THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN" WITH ITS PRODUCER

Valentin Greutert, producer of "Paul Bowles, The Cage Door is Always Open" will be present with the FIRE!! public, on Friday, July the 5th 8.30 p.m., to present this documentary on one of the icons of the "generation beat ", shot with the writer, shortly before his disappearance.

JULY THE 1ST: OUTDOOR SCREENING OF "BORN NAKED", IN THE RAVAL

“Raval Verd” proposes for the third year its outdoor cinema programm, called this time Cine a la puttanesca. It opens on July the 1st with the FIRE!! Mostra, and the film “Born Naked”, by Andrea Esteban. Screening at 9.30 p.m., Aurora Sreet, 24. 3 euros with a drink! More information: Facebook Raval Verd.

COME TO THE FIRE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM!

The FIRE!! educational program comes back this year with a more complete schedule of roundtables and screenings: "Diversity, outside and indoors" (July 1st, 4.45 p.m.), "Trans Health" (July 2nd, 5 p.m.) and "Fighting homophobia" (July 3rd, 5 p.m.) are the topics of these roundtables at the Forum of the Fnac Triangle. BAMBI'S ASSISTANCE CONFIRMED AT FIRE!!

The extraordinary character of “Bambi, a Sébastien Lifschitz documentary, will be with us at the FIRE!! Mostra. She marked a whole generation of transsexuals, having been one of the first to go to Casablanca for surgery; she will be with the public during the screening of the film, on Saturday, July the 13th at 8.30 p.m.

FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE: selected shorts

The shorts contest organized by the Mostra FIRE!! together with Amnesty International and film school Bande à Part, ended yesterday with more than 64 videos from all around the world, among which 8 have been selected to go to the finals. Soon you will be informed of when and where you can see them, while the jury deliberates on two of the three winner shorts. The third will be decided by the public. Congratulations to those selected, and thank you all for participating!

THE FILM "MÍA", IN TERRASSA

“YOSSI” MAIN ACTOR: ASSISTANCE CONFIRMED AT FIRE!!

The Israeli actor Ohad Knoller, star of movies like “Yossi & Jagger” and “The Bubble”, by Eytan Fox, will be presenting his latest film, "Yossi" at FIRE!! 2013. The acclaimed actor will attend the public after the screening to be held at the French Institute on Saturday, July the 6th at 8.30 p.m. A unique moment to meet this fascinating and seductive actor!

The pass of 4 tickets to the FIRE!! is already on presale at Casal Lambda, at 18 euros, instead of the 20 euros it will cost at the box office during the days of the festival. Run to buy it at Casal Lambda, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., 10, Verdaguer i Callis street.

FIRE!! shows the best posters of Amnesty International

"50 years of posters and art committed by Amnesty International" is a collection of posters produced by Amnesty International since its founding in 1961, and designed with the collaboration of artists from all around the world, including international names such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Fernando Botero, Alexander Calder. The sample is a review of the organization history and campaigns for human rights over the past 50 years. It is a tribute to all the artists who wanted to denounce the world injustices with images, inviting us to imagine a different world, inspiring and motivating.

The exhibition will take place in the framework of the FIRE!! Mostra, in the Hall of the French Institute of Barcelona, from the 4th to the 14th of July.

Short films contest “FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE”

The FIRE!! Mostra, Amnesty International and film school Bande à Part, are pleased to announce the 2nd International Short Films Contest “FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE”, dedicated to gender violence, transphobia and homophobia. It's easy to participate through the Movibeta platform. You have until June the 15th. > Read the rules here, and take part to the contest!

We accept fiction, documentary, experimental or animation shorts, shot in any format and for a maximum duration of 10 minutes, including credits. All persons wishing to participate must submit their projects to the competition organizers before June the 15th, 2013, through the Movibeta platform (www.movibeta.com).

The eight finalists will be announce on June the 24th. The 3 awards will be choosen later among them: Best Short Film (1,000 Euros); Jury Special Award (Movibeta Premium Bonus of 50 free registrations in festivals, for the promotion of the film); Public Award (Official Diploma).

IDOLATRY - New graphical image of the Mostra 2013!

The FIRE!! Mostra presents its new graphic image for the 2013 edition. This year, the mostra will be held from 4th to 14th of July.
The motto: NO QUEENS, NO KINGS, JUST YOU!

SCREENING OF "TOMBOY", ON APRIL THE 16TH

Finally, you will be able to watch one of the best movies of the year 2011, awarded all around the world, with extraordinary tenderness and sensitivity. "Tomboy", by movie director Céline Sciamma, will be screened at the French Institute of Barcelona, on April the 16th, at 8.30 p.m. FIRE!!, with Tomboy!

FILM SCREENING: "IL ROSA NUDO"

On Friday, March the 15th, at 9.30 pm, at the French Institute of Barcelona, screening of "Il rosa nudo", Giovanni Coda first feature film inspired by the autobiography of Peter Seel, deported homosexual during WWII. The screening, organized by the Mostra FIRE!! and the French Institute of Barcelona, will be preceded by a presentation by the director of the film itself, Giovanni Coda, and Antoine Leonetti, Coordinator of the Mostra.
