Ale is a transvestite who works as a "cartonera" (slang for Argentineans who survive by picking up cardboard on the streets) and lives in a settlement known as Aldea Rosa, populated by gays and trans people. In her daily route, she finds the personal diary of Mía, a deceased young woman who has left a husband and a daughter named Julia. Ale's empathy for Mía as she reads her diary grows, and will drive her to take Mía's place and therefore expose her own true nature. Mía is an endearing movie that deals with the rights to happiness and to be part of a community, even for outcasts. With this movie we explore discrimination, intolerance, social exclusion and equality, but also love.
