Quebranto describes the life of Fernando García Ortega, a former child star nicknamed Pinolito, who became one of the biggest acting prodigies in Mexican cinema. As an adult, the decision came to adopt a new gender identity and become Coral Bonelli, and with this decision her career took a 180 degree turn and started to slowly fade until it became a distant and painful memory.
Roberto Fiesco captures Bonelli's magnificent style in this documentary brilliantly edited by Julián Hernández, another great Mexican director and creator of movies such as
Broken sky (El cielo dividido).
Quebranto's gorgeous, sweeping shots, together with tangos and rancheras, put the audience right within the four walls of Coral Bonelli's home and, without reservation, makes them part of her past and present.
