Winner of numerous independent cinema festival awards and starring the excellent Alan Cumming,
Year Day Now is a powerful story of love, acceptance and family. When a teenager with Down syndrome (Isaac Leyva) is mistreated and abandoned by his mother, a male couple (Alan Cumming and Garret Dillahunt) take him to their house and becomes the loving family he never had. However, when the authorities discover their unconventional way of life, they are forced to fight a twisted legal system to save the life of a boy whom they have come to love as their own. Inspired by a true story during the seventies, Year Day Now addresses legal and social issues that are as relevant today as they were 35 years ago, showing the inequality that same-sex couples often have to endure, when it comes to defending the custody of a son, demonstrated to its fullest capacity.
