Atafeh dreams of fame and adventure. Along with her best friend, Shireen, she explores Tehran's underworld, pushing the limits of society and of her own sexuality. Meanwhile, Atafeh's brother comes back home after finishing a drug rehab programme, gives up his old live as a musician and joins the Morality Police. Brother and sister, who used to be confidants, now face each other in a triangle of mystery, suspicions, and treason, transforming the family home, which used to be their refuge, into a dangerous place.

Circumstance is a brave and daring work that, through Atafeh's sexual revolution and Mehran's obsessions, questions the moral, political and social code of the Iranian society, that crumbles in front of a youth that no longer can stand the religious and moral tyranny.
