During the course of a year, Matt Tyrnauer takes us backstage at the fashion shows of Valentino Garavani, "emperor" of Italian fashion. We see his creative process, the team he has had around him for years, his tantrums, his little dogs... But above all we get to know the omnipresent Giancarlo Giammetti, his business manager and also his partner for decades. We get an inside view of the intimacy of this very busy couple, who live between Paris and Rome, and we witness the tensions that accompany the preparations for an exhibition on the 45-year career of the designer. Will this be, in fact, the last act of the creator of "Valentino red"?

Their relationship underlies the whole documentary in a natural way, and in his acceptance speech of the medal of the French Legion of Honour the discreet acknowledgement of Valentino to Giancarlo is moving.
