THE MOSTRA FIRE!! PRESENTS THE 8 SEMI-FINALISTS OF THE CONTEST FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE
Last Friday, the jury of the contest “FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE” organized by the Mostra FIRE!!, Amnesty International, and the cinema school Bande à Part, selected the 8 semi-finalists who will compete for the FIRE! 2012 awards. The selected films are:

"Giselle & Malice", by Eric Monteagudo and Orio Peñalver
"Mama, soy gay!", by Sophia Elliot
"Lo estipulado", by K. Prada and J. Prada
"Yo soy Juana", by Laura Bondel
"La cruz", by Alberto Gospel
"Luna Rota", by Javier Garcia
"El defensor", by Manuel H. martin
The 8 films will be screened on Thursday, June the 28th at CINEBAIX in Sant Feliu de Llobregat at 7.30 p.m., and the audience will decide the three shorts going to the final. Then, within the Mostra FIRE!! itself, on Friday the 13th of July at 4.30 p.m. and on Saturday the 14th at 6.30 p.m., at the French Institute of Barcelona, the public attending the two sessions of the Mostra will decide which of the three finalists will be the winner.
To all of them, good luck! The level is very high; the Mostra, Amnesty International and Bande à Part school want to thank all the authors for their participation in the contest FILMING AGAINST VIOLENCE.

Again, a little big play within another play… A movie by Juanma Carrillo for FIRE!! 2012, that counts this time with actresses Lancho Guadalupe, star of the musical "Más de cien mentiras (Over a hundred lies)", or series as "La Fuga (The Fugue)" and "Águila roja (Red Eagle)", movies like "Lo contrario del amor (The opposite of love)" and shorts as "Caníbales (Cannibals)", made by Carrillo himself. This week is the première of "Evelyn", by Isabel de Ocampo, with the participation of Guadalupe. The second actress, Sonia Lázaro, has worked in series like "Hospital Central" and "La Señora (The Lady)", and movies like "El mal ajeno (schadenfreude)".
"The Lettera" is the second in a series of three movies that the Mostra FIRE!! has commissioned to filmmaker Juanma Carrillo to promote this July cinematographic rendez-vous, but that become valuable in themselves to be an homage to the cinema within the cinema. The first was "Furry Boys" in English and with Ignacio Tielve and Fernando Montes; now this second one in Italian, and the third ... in a few days.

The short film will be seen at the French Institute on Friday the 6th, Saturday the 7th, Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th, at the 8.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. sessions.

This is the first one, "Furry Boys", with Fernando Montes and Ignacio Tielve. The first of them is known for many films among which "El Internado" for television, or the movies "Rabia", "El Laberinto del Fauno" and "Los fantasmas de Goya". Ignacio Montes, also known for his television work as "Los Serrano" and movies like "La Pecera de Eva" is about to release "Azul y no tan rosa". Next week we will present the second of the works of Carrillo for FIRE!

JUNE 28th, GAY PRIDE: FIRE!! AT SANT FELIU DE LLOBREGAT
To celebrate Gay Pride, Mostra FIRE!! organises a political act and a cultural event in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, together with Amnesty International.
To celebrate Gay Pride, Mostra FIRE!! organises a political act and a cultural event in Sant Feliu de Llobregat, together with Amnesty International..
12 a.m.: the gay flag will be hoisted in the City Council, with a speech by the Mayor.
4.30 p.m.: the lecture "Love is not a crime, the situation of LGTB rights in the world" will be given by the head of Amnesty International in Catalonia at Palau Falguera.
7.30 p.m.: seven short films selected as finalists in the contest Filming Against Violence will be screened at Cinebaix cinemas. The contest has been organised by the Mostra together with Bande à Part cinema school and Amnesty International. The audience will be able to vote for the winning short film.

RAVAL VERD presents in its second year a cinema series in the Raval, this time entitled CINEMA A LA PUTTANESCA. It's a series that includes a movie screening with electronic music by local women DJs and VJs.

This year's theme will be the Mediterranean woman in Italian cinema, from neorealism to our times. Selected movies will include Las noches de Cabiria (Federico Fellini), Mamma Roma (Pier Paolo Pasolini), Senso (Luchino Visconti), Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto Lina Wertmüller), Bellissima (Luchino Visconti), Malena (Giuseppe Tornatore), Divorce, Italian Style (Pietro Germi), etc.
What is really original about this presentation in this neighbourhood is the double-feature screening: original version on Sundays and a version with music and images on the movie from the participating artists on Mondays. A unique and different experience that last year was already quite successful with more than 2,800 participants who, during a month and a half with two sessions a week, could enjoy movies out of the city's commercial circuit.
This year's series starts Sunday July 1st with a special session by Mostra FIRE!!, presenting for all audiences the film Florent.
