David lives in a traditional family in the Korean neighbourhood of Los Angeles. He is very close to his parents, first-generation immigrants. He works in the family restaurant, but business is going badly, and they are forced to close. His mother finds another job as a waitress, but his unemployed father begins to spiral downward. As the patriarchal balance teeters, tension builds at home.
To appease his mother, David pretends to go to classes to take university entrance exams, but secretly takes a job at a Korean spa to help his family make ends meet. At the spa, he discovers an underground world of gay sex that scares him but also excites him. As David dares to explore his sexuality, his family life crumbles, forcing him to reconcile his own desires with his parents’ hopes, dreams, and expectations. After this feature debut film, writer/director Andrew Ahn, like his main character, promises to go far.
