Donato works as a lifeguard at spectacular, dangerous Praia do Futuro beach. One day, when he plunges into the sea to rescue two men, he manages to save Konrad, a German on holiday in Brazil, but his companion is drowned. Gradually, an ever-stronger emotional bond will grow between the two until they finally decide to try to build something more solid in Konrad's home town: Berlin.
