FIRE!! MOSTRA 2016 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

You can now send your films for the selection of the 2016 edition of FIRE !! With an online screener sent at mostra@lambdaweb.org, or through Click for Festivals or Moviebeta or FestHome or FilmFreeway, or sent by post to Casal Lambda. The honorary awards of the Festival have been attributed this year to the following films:

- Best Long Feature Film: Lilting, by Hong Khaou
- Best Documentary Film: Regarding Susan Sontag, by Nancy Kates
- Best Short Film: Big Time. My Doodled Diary, by Sonali Gulati

Exhibition: 20 years of LGBT film festival in Barcelona

Do not miss the exhibition shows 20 years of gay and lesbian film festival in Barcelona with the most significant of these 20 years of festival, graphic images and posters of each year, photographs of spaces, halls, venues, guests, parallel activities... Homosexual subversive cinema: meeting with Alberto Berzosa

Presentation of the book Homoherejías fílmicas: Cine homosexual subversivo en España en los años setenta y ochenta with the presence of the author, Alberto Berzosa, and Luis Escribano, former member of the legendary group Els 5 QK’s. On Saturday July the 4th at 1 pm at Llibreria Calders, Passatge Pere Calders, 9 (next to Parlament street). Free admission.

Nancy Kates, director of Regarding Susan Sontag, will attend the festival

Nancy Kates, director of the documentary Regarding Susan Sontag, will be present at the screening on Saturday July the 4th, at 8.30 pm, to present her film and meet the public.

The Hiroshima Hall, home of the FIRE !!

The new Hiroshima Theatre (Vila i Vilà, 67) is a new venue for FIRE!!, with diferent activities during 3 days. Friday July the 3rd: Gender Masquerade Workshop from 4 pm to 9 pm; Saturday the 4th: iconoclast Trans-Art-Cabaret with different artists, at 9 pm; and Sunday tje 5th: a session of short movies, FIRE!! en curts, at 7.30 pm.

Girls on FIRE!! Party, with Las Bistecs!!

FIRE!! 2015 celebrates its 20th anniversary with the GIRLS on FIRE!! a party at Sala Apolo on Friday, July the 3rd, from 12.30 pm with Las Bistecs live concert Síria Dj, Äadrik Synth Dj and Ferdiyei. And > here you’ll find a spot prepared by Las Bistecs just for you!!

Lilting director, at the Opening Night !!

Khaou Hong, director of Lilting will attend the opening night of July 2 at the French Institute! Save the date, to meet in person this young and highly acclaimed British director of Cambodian origin, awarded at Sundance among other festivals around the world.

Open-Air FIRE!! with Appropriate Behavior

Open-Air FIRE!! Will present the American indie movie Appropriate Behavior at Aurora Basketball Court, within the film program Cinema a la Puttanesca, of Raval Verd. On Monday, June 29 at 9 pm, at 24, Aurora street.

Educational Program at Fnac Triangle

As every year, FIRE!! presents its Educational Program at Fnac Triangle, on the 29th and 30th of June and 1st of July, from 6 pm to 9 pm. Three days of lectures, films, panel discussions and audience participation, and issues around homophobia in schools, LGBT families and LGBT life chronicles.

First activity of FIRE !! in Zumzeig Cinema!

The Mostra begins on June 25 at 8 pm, at Cinema Zumzeig (Bejar, 53),with one of the most interesting and original movies of this edition, The Gap, by Swedish film director Kim Anja Schicklang. A unique opportunity to see it!

USA: Guest Country of FIRE!!

United States is the guest country of the Mostra FIRE!! 2015; it will be represented with some of the best films of this 20th edition: Regarding Susan Sontag, Tab Hunter Confidential, Appropriate Behavior, Last Summer or Born this way, for example. An initiative of the American Consulate in Barcelona, as part of its advocacy and promotion of Civil Rights.
